Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) (Photonics & Optical Packaging)

What you will do

• Lead qualification and production readiness reviews for photonics and optical packaging suppliers, including PIC fabs, laser fabs, OSATs, fiber attach, and passive component suppliers.
• Own supplier quality for die attach, fiber attach, active alignment, underfill, sealing, and optical inspection processes.
• Define critical-to-quality parameters, incoming inspection strategies, control plans, SPC monitoring, containment, and stop-ship criteria.
• Track supplier KPIs including yield, optical parametric stability, defect PPM, quality escapes, and on-time delivery.
• Lead supplier-related failure analysis and CAPA closure using optical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical analysis techniques.
• Manage supplier PCNs and process changes, including risk assessment, re-qualification, and reliability testing requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Optical, Materials, Mechanical, or related Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in supplier quality, photonics manufacturing, or advanced packaging quality.
• Hands-on experience with optical or photonic manufacturing processes.
• Strong background in SPC, root-cause analysis, and CAPA.
• Experience with PICs, lasers, modulators, detectors, or co-packaged optics is preferred.
• Applicants must be eligible to access export-controlled information under applicable U.S. export control laws; some candidates may require export license review.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Telcordia or JEDEC reliability testing for optical components.
• Experience supporting production ramps for high-volume optical products.
