R&D Quality & Reliability Engineer (Silicon Photonics)

Location: San Jose, California, USA; onsite at 1320 Ridder Park Drive. Travel of up to 10% is required.

Annual base salary: USD 143,800–230,000. Discretionary annual bonus and equity awards may also be available.

What you will do

• Drive the quality and reliability strategy for the silicon photonics product portfolio.
• Partner with development teams on product quality, reliability, new product introductions, and high-volume manufacturing ramps.
• Manage end-to-end reliability qualification for silicon photonics devices, transceivers, co-packaged optics, and related technologies.
• Lead failure analysis investigations through root-cause identification and corrective and preventive actions.
• Partner with manufacturing teams on product transfers and volume ramps while maintaining quality standards.
• Support Product/Process Qualifications, Change Management, customer visits, audits, and regular quality reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years, master’s degree plus 10 years, or PhD plus 7 years of experience in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
• Expertise in quality and reliability for silicon photonics, semiconductor photodiodes, modulators, heaters, waveguides, lasers, fiber optics, wafer fabrication, IC packaging, or related fields.
• Previous customer-facing experience and strong customer communication skills.
• Experience with device, chip, and circuit reliability; design for reliability; design for test; and semiconductor characterization.
• Ability to partner with design teams to develop qualification tests and stress strategies, including infrastructure for reliability assessment of EIC or Optical Engine die.
• Advanced statistical analysis skills using JMP, Python, R, or MATLAB, plus database development for high-volume manufacturing support.
• Knowledge of reliability and statistical analysis, failure analysis techniques, and quality-update presentations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a lean, fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
