Senior Fullstack Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid in Ottawa, Ontario, or Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CA$115,837–CA$173,755 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate backend services for media ingestion, processing, storage, and retrieval at scale.
• Build event-driven pipelines with AWS services including SQS, S3, Lambda, EKS, Redis, and CloudFront.
• Design media platform APIs and integration contracts with contract and end-to-end tests.
• Implement vendor-independent observability using structured logs, metrics, traces, and OpenTelemetry concepts.
• Own deployments across staging and production, including gradual rollouts, canary releases, and infrastructure or feature A/B tests.
• Optimize cloud networking, storage, and compute while diagnosing production issues and mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience as a backend or backend-focused full-stack engineer owning production services end to end.
• Hands-on AWS and cloud experience, including SQS, EKS, Redis, CloudFront, S3, and Lambda.
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals, including asynchronous processing, eventual consistency, idempotency, and failure handling.
• Experience with API design, production reliability, observability, cloud deployments, and complex cross-service troubleshooting.
• Strong AI tool usage, problem-solving skills, ownership, and the ability to influence technical decisions.
• Must be a Canadian citizen, including dual citizens, or eligible to work in Canada; a criminal records check is required upon hire.

Nice to have

• Experience with media, video, or high-throughput binary data technologies such as WebRTC, HLS, RTSP, or ffmpeg.
• Kubernetes and cloud-native operations experience, including incident response and SLOs.
• Experience with GCP, Azure, TypeScript, Rust, or high-growth environments.
• Interest in applying AI/ML to product capabilities and team productivity.
