Principal Product Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Vancouver, BC, or remote within Canada or the United States

Salary: Vancouver, BC total compensation CA$200K–CA$385K; remote Canada CA$200K–CA$310K; remote USA $225K–$275K. Equity is offered.

What you will do

• Lead small cross-functional engineering teams of 4–6 engineers and align delivery with team missions.
• Contribute hands-on to product development using TypeScript, React, Elixir, and Phoenix.
• Own software architecture across the team’s functional area and evaluate technical implementations.
• Build core application features and robust, scalable, secure production infrastructure.
• Champion AI-assisted development, code quality, engineering standards, and internal best practices.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, support hiring, and collaborate with product and engineering leadership.

Requirements

• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and delivering high-quality releases on time.
• Substantial frontend expertise with React and TypeScript or backend expertise with Elixir and Phoenix.
• Experience with relational databases, TypeScript, and GraphQL.
• Experience with DevOps, infrastructure, and deployments.
• Advanced understanding of production security, performance, and operational requirements.
• Ability to work from Vancouver, Canada, or remotely from Canada or the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience building GraphQL APIs with Apollo Client and Absinthe.
• Experience with Vercel and Next.js.
• Understanding of PostgreSQL database design and optimization.
• Experience deploying and configuring AWS services and Kubernetes with Terraform.
