Senior Software Developer (Java/React)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

Salary: CAD 107,000–157,300 annual base salary; offers may exceed this range and may include bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and evolve scalable, multi-tenant backend services and REST APIs for platform workflow use cases.
• Build a durable workflow engine on Temporal IO that enables teams and customers to define, execute, schedule, and monitor workflows.
• Develop web interfaces with modern frontend frameworks and integrate enterprise identity, authentication, and authorization systems.
• Ensure reliability through fault-tolerant design, retry strategies, graceful degradation, observability, and cloud security.
• Own the engineering cycle from design and prototyping through coding, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and security updates.
• Drive SLO improvements, service reviews, fire drills, high-availability assessments, on-call recovery, mentoring, and collaboration with engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or an equivalent master’s degree.
• Strong programming experience with Java, Spring Boot, React, and TypeScript.
• Experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, cloud-native application development, AWS, Docker, and production-grade services.
• Experience designing reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems, including resiliency patterns, API and system design, and SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Strong SRE experience with SLO accountability, observability tools such as Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or Prometheus, and complex production troubleshooting.
• Fluent oral and written English, along with strong analytical, communication, leadership, learning, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Temporal IO, DynamoDB, or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with workflow modeling and multi-tenant system design.
• Knowledge of AI systems and AI agents.
