Focus on administering configuration tooling, improving adoption across engineering teams, and building the roadmap from file-share-based control toward a dedicated PLM system.
Location: Hybrid role based at Merlin HQ in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship or visa transfer.

is an aerospace and defense company developing an autonomous pilot system for commercial and defense aircraft.
What you will do
- Define, standardize, and continuously improve configuration management processes for released engineering, design, and process data across civil and military programs.
- Partner with engineering, program, and process assurance teams on configuration item identification, baselining, release, and change control.
- Refine change evaluation criteria, approval routing, and change control board structures to ensure released-data changes are assessed, approved, and traceable.
- Establish company-wide conventions for configuration item identification, versioning, release, retention, archival, and obsolescence.
- Administer configuration and PLM tooling, including access control, and train engineering and program teams on consistent adoption.
- Assess current tooling and build a roadmap toward a dedicated PLM system, including support for flight-test vehicle integration activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, with meaningful configuration management experience in aerospace, defense, or another complex regulated engineering environment.
- At least 8 years of experience executing complex aerospace configuration management processes, including FAA TIA experience.
- Working knowledge of ANSI/EIA-649 and applicable civil and military frameworks, including ARP4754A, AS9100D, and MIL-HDBK-61A or equivalent guidance.
- Experience administering configuration or PLM tooling for baselining, versioning, and access control in civil and military environments.
- Experience defining or improving change control processes, including change control board structures and evaluation criteria.
- Experience with DO-178C and DO-254 release and configuration practices for software and airborne electronic hardware.
Nice to have
- Experience building or maturing configuration management processes at a scaling company.
- Experience partnering with or working within process assurance or quality assurance functions.
- Experience transitioning from file-share or SharePoint-based configuration control to a dedicated PLM system.
