Principal Engineer (Backend)

Location: Pleasanton, United States. Candidates within a reasonable commute to a hirify.global office must work onsite at least 3 days a week.

Salary: $257,000–$322,000 per year, plus eligible short-term and long-term incentive programs.

What you will do

• Define application and system architecture for cloud-based backend services.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, maintain, optimize, and scale backend services.
• Research, test, benchmark, and evaluate new technologies.
• Propose scaling solutions and collaborate with other teams to build new features.
• Write high-quality code in a rapid, iterative environment.
• Coach and mentor less experienced software engineers while communicating with stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements

• Strong software design and architecture skills.
• Experience developing and scaling cloud-based backend services.
• Ability to evaluate technologies, solve complex problems, and improve system performance.
• Strong attention to detail, creativity, tenacity, and forward-thinking problem-solving.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an agile development environment.
• Ability to work from the office at least 3 days per week when located within a reasonable commute.
