Principal Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, Sunnyvale, or New York, United States

Salary: $223,888–$280,000 annually, depending on geographic market, experience, and role; equity grants and cash bonus may also be available.

What you will do

• Own the technical design and implementation of backend services and systems.
• Design, code, review, test, research, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot production services in AWS environments.
• Architect scalable financial infrastructure using Java, Go, or Ruby.
• hirify.global large feature releases and multi-person projects across engineering teams and departments.
• Partner with Product, Finance, Compliance, and other stakeholders to deliver products from inception through maturation.
• Mentor engineers and promote high-quality coding and delivery practices.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience developing production software for large-scale, consumer-facing mobile applications.
• Current or previous experience at Principal Engineer level or above.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Experience architecting scalable backend systems in Java, Go, or Ruby.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud platform and familiarity with relational databases.
• Experience hirify.globaling cross-team releases, collaborating with stakeholders, mentoring engineers, and delivering stable, maintainable software autonomously.
