Software Engineer/Lead Software Engineer (Temporal)

Location: Hybrid; candidates must live within a 180-mile radius of a hub in Bloomington, Illinois; Dunwoody, Georgia; Richardson, Texas; or Tempe, Arizona, with regular office time required.

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 per year, plus potential yearly incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Build, operate, and evolve an enterprise workflow orchestration platform using Temporal Cloud.
• Develop reusable platform services, SDKs, libraries, templates, and reference implementations.
• Partner with application teams to design long-running workflows and integrate existing applications with Temporal.
• Build automation, self-service capabilities, and developer tooling that improve productivity and platform reliability.
• Implement observability through metrics, logging, alerting, and distributed tracing.
• Establish workflow standards and governance, investigate production issues, and deliver long-term improvements.

Requirements

• Professional software development experience with Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or another modern programming language.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, distributed systems, API development, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience with U.S. work authorization available immediately; visa sponsorship is not provided.

Nice to have

• Experience with Temporal, Camunda, AWS Step Functions, Azure Durable Functions, or similar workflow orchestration technologies.
• Platform engineering or internal developer platform experience.
• Kubernetes, containers, observability tools, or messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Amazon SQS.
• Knowledge of resiliency patterns and secure software development practices.
