Lead Software Engineer (Cloud)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; work in the Torrance office

What you will do

• Lead the Cloud team, set technical direction, mentor engineers, drive execution, and own delivery of cloud services.
• Design and develop cloud-based booking and reservation systems for global antenna network access.
• Build customer-facing APIs and portals for scheduling, booking, service provisioning, and automated network rerouting.
• Own orchestration across the global ground-station network and define interfaces between cloud services and on-site ground systems.
• Design and operate control-plane, data-plane, telemetry, monitoring, billing, and metering systems across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Collaborate with Ground, Data, site operations, network operations, and customers on secure and scalable TT&C and payload-data interfaces.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years building and scaling cloud-based services and APIs in production.
• Experience leading engineering teams or projects, mentoring engineers, and driving technical direction.
• Experience with distributed scheduling, resource allocation, or booking platforms.
• Proficiency with modern cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Must meet U.S. Government space technology export requirements: be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with Rust, Golang, Haskell, or other languages suitable for cloud services and distributed systems.
• Experience with global-scale customer-facing platforms, event-driven architectures, message queues, streaming pipelines, or telemetry systems.
• Knowledge of API authentication, access control, billing, usage tracking, subscription management, Kubernetes, containerization, and CI/CD.
• Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises service boundaries, simulation and modeling, or satellite communications.
