What you will do

  • Lead mechanical analyses of reactor structures, systems, core components, and nuclear island equipment.
  • Perform stress, creep-fatigue, buckling, seismic, vibration, static, and dynamic analyses using Mathcad and finite element analysis software.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on linear and nonlinear analyses.
  • Establish, review, approve, and maintain analysis results and design solution documentation.
  • Direct the development of structural sizing inputs, methodologies, and load combinations for critical reactor components and interfaces.
  • Provide technical mentorship, coordinate design and verification activities, and contribute to strategy, budgets, resources, and team performance.

Requirements

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering; Aerospace and Civil Engineering degrees are also considered.
  • At least 10 years of mechanical analysis experience with a B.S., or 8+ years with an M.S. or Ph.D.
  • At least 2 years of experience coordinating technical project teams and meeting project goals.
  • Proficiency in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods, and commercial modeling tools, especially ABAQUS or ANSYS.
  • Strong knowledge of solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, metal fatigue, and mechanical analysis of equipment or components.
  • Experience applying ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III, with working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.1, and ASME B31.3.
