Location: Kearny, New Jersey, United States; on-site

Salary: $110,000–$180,000 per year

hirify.global develops stellarator fusion systems using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils to advance the commercialization of zero-emission fusion energy.

What you will do

  • Own the mechanical design and development of primary and secondary fusion components and subsystems.
  • Define prototyping requirements with system-level development teams.
  • Produce mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, and manufacturing parameters with appropriate tolerances.
  • Design assembly tooling and support tooling implementation, manufacturing, and first builds.
  • Perform thermal, structural, and electromagnetic analysis and simulation using Ansys and COMSOL.
  • Execute qualification testing, track program milestones, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience, including leading the design, construction, and commissioning of custom systems.
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX and with complex assemblies involving multiple contributors.
  • Experience specifying machining, welding, and fabrication requirements and applying design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, ASME Y14.5, and drawing standards.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, initiative, and ability to work to aggressive deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
