Manufacturing Systems Engineer (MES)

Location: Torrance, California, United States

Salary: $112,500–$165,000 USD per year, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Own Manufacturo MES administration, including configuration, permissions, routings, work instruction templates, and release management.
• Partner with the Manufacturo vendor on support escalations, feature requests, and releases.
• Design and maintain MES integrations with ERP, PLM, quality, and inventory systems.
• Translate manufacturing engineering requirements into executable work instructions and process routings.
• Define production data structures for accurate scrap, rework, repair, cycle time, and takt adherence reporting.
• Train production staff, troubleshoot workflow and data issues, and continuously reduce manual work on the shop floor.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing systems, or industrial engineering in a hardware production environment.
• Hands-on experience administering or configuring an MES platform such as Manufacturo, iBase-t Solumina, Tulip, Siemens Opcenter, or a similar system.
• Working knowledge of MES and ERP interactions, including work orders, BOMs, material consumption, completions, and confirmations.
• Ability to work with structured data, read API documentation, and use CSV and JSON data with software teams.
• Strong production-floor presence and the ability to design systems around how technicians work.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent hands-on experience, plus clear written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing environments involving AS9100, ISO 9001, or ITAR.
• Experience leading an MES implementation or migration.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA, NetSuite, Odoo, PLM tools, production dashboards, or MES reporting pipelines.
• Lean manufacturing knowledge, including takt time, cycle time, standard work, and continuous improvement.
