Lead Range and Energy Consumption Engineer (EV/Hybrid)

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, or Novi, Michigan; 4–5 days per week in the office. Domestic and international travel is required approximately 5% of the time. A valid driver's license and passport are required. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.

Salary: $160,000–$192,500 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead vehicle development testing for range, fuel economy, and road-load targets across program milestones.
• Develop test plans, instrumentation strategies, facility schedules, and data-collection processes to validate hardware and software performance.
• Build efficiency target roadmaps, identify risks and opportunities, and define mitigation strategies.
• Manage fuel-economy and range label strategies using program content, option take-rates, and volume assumptions.
• Provide validated assumptions and range-impact assessments for hardware and software changes.
• Benchmark competing vehicles through dyno, track, and bench testing and represent the Range and Energy Consumption attribute in program meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical engineering field.
• 12+ years of experience in an automotive vehicle environment, leading EV range or gasoline fuel-economy attributes.
• Strong understanding of aerodynamics, rolling resistance, vehicle mass, and their impact on EV/HEV efficiency.
• Familiarity with battery management, powertrain controls, and regenerative braking systems.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Ability to work in the Charlotte or Novi office 4–5 days per week; valid driver's license and passport required.

Nice to have

• MATLAB/Simulink experience, including vehicle range and fuel-economy modeling.
