Backend Engineer (Go)

Location: On-site in Arlington, Virginia, or New York, New York; limited to U.S. citizens

Salary: $159,000–$195,000 base salary annually; estimated total compensation of $204,000–$263,000

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable backend services in Go to improve operator decision-making and response.
• Build high-performance REST and GraphQL APIs for customer-facing workflows and internal platform capabilities.
• Model complex relationships in graph databases and optimize schemas and queries.
• Implement event-driven systems with technologies such as NATS to process real-time operational data.
• Develop automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and resilient microservices deployed across AWS and on-premises environments.
• Partner with cyber operations experts and frontend engineers to translate domain needs into durable product features.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with backend or full-stack applications.
• Strong proficiency with Go and experience shipping production services with it.
• Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j or AWS Neptune, including schema design and query performance.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, message queues or streaming systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, containers, and microservices.
• Strong foundation in secure coding practices and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required; some positions may also require eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance.

• Experience delivering software in defense, security, or other mission-critical environments.
• Experience building systems for analysts, operators, or high-tempo users.
• Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production systems.
• Experience with large-scale data processing, open-source contributions, or observability tooling.
