Salary: $350Kβ$450K base salary plus equity

What you will do
- Own engineering velocity, quality, culture, and the organizationβs technical narrative across company, board, and investor communications.
- Define the technical vision, architecture principles, pod structure, and strategy for the Web, Mobile, AI, and platform infrastructure.
- Build an AI-native engineering organization by developing agentic workflows, evaluating tools, and evolving team structure and developer leverage.
- Lead hiring, performance management, career growth, leadership development, and organizational change for a team of approximately 25 engineers.
- Partner with Product and Design to shape roadmap, scope, product craft, and technical priorities as a cohesive R&D function.
- Establish measurable engineering health signals, including scoping accuracy, on-call load, bug frequency, uptime, time-to-merge, and developer experience.
Requirements
- 12+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years managing managers on high-growth consumer or marketplace software teams.
- Experience scaling engineering organizations, ideally from approximately 25 to 75+ engineers, and managing through organizational change.
- Deep platform architecture and infrastructure expertise, with prior Staff or Principal-level engineering experience and the ability to contribute to RFCs, system design, production incidents, code, and code reviews.
- Track record of hiring and developing Staff and Principal Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Directors while building a strong leadership bench.
- Strong current knowledge of consumer web and mobile architecture, backend infrastructure at tens-of-millions-of-MAUs scale, and AI-native software development practices.
- Exceptional communication and operating skills, including executive presentations, board updates, roadmap reviews, and performance conversations; experience working closely with a founder or CEO.

- Experience with React and React Native using Expo at scale.
- Background at companies recognized for engineering craft and consumer focus, such as Airbnb, Uber, DoorDash, Stripe, Linear, Ramp, Notion, or Figma.
- Written perspectives on engineering culture, such as talks, posts, or internal manifestos.
