Salary: $80,000–$180,000 annually

What you will do

  • Manage the company-wide life safety and fire protection program, including documentation required by regulatory agencies.
  • Design and assess automatic suppression, fire detection, alarm, mass notification, smoke control, and passive fire protection systems.
  • Perform fire code, egress, fire-resistant construction, site survey, inspection, and special inspection analyses.
  • Conduct fire risk assessments and hazard analyses for compliance with NRC, NFPA, and other applicable standards.
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary engineering teams, senior management, regulators, contractors, and installation teams.
  • Provide technical guidance during installation, testing, commissioning, audits, and ongoing system maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to perform trade studies and make recommendations with partial information.
  • Strong knowledge of NRC regulations, NFPA codes, and relevant IEEE and ANSI standards.
  • Proficiency with fire modeling software and engineering tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for working with teams, regulators, and contractors.
  • Experience managing projects and ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.

Nice to have

  • Experience in nuclear, radiological, or other high-hazard industrial facilities.
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, or nuclear fire alarm, suppression, passive fire, inerting, or public address systems.
  • Experience with industrial construction projects and fire protection system design or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of IBC, IEBC, NFPA, IFC, or UFC codes and standards.
  • Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain one, advanced degree, or evidence of exceptional technical work.
