Fire Life Safety Commissioning Engineer (Data Center)

What you will do

• Take technical ownership of fire life safety commissioning across mission-critical data center facilities.
• Run and document functional performance testing for fire alarm, smoke control, emergency power, and suppression systems.
• Lead AHJ inspections and interface directly with code officials.
• Direct subcontractors and vendors through testing sequences.
• Develop and maintain FLS commissioning scripts, plans, and pre-functional checklists.
• Review drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation during design reviews.

Requirements

Location: Must be based in Austin, TX, New York, NY, or San Francisco, CA.

• Experience owning fire life safety commissioning on data centers, commercial buildings, or high-performance facilities.
• Deep knowledge of NFPA, IBC, and applicable codes to serve as the on-site authority.
• Ability to run integrated testing across fire alarm, suppression, smoke control, and emergency communication systems.
• Strong communication skills to direct subcontractors and vendors.

Nice to have

• Commissioning certifications (CxP, BCxP, CxA, CCP, QCxP).
• Background in fire protection, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
