Senior Hardware Design Engineer (SSD)

Location: Santa Clara, California; primarily in-office

Salary: $175,000–$263,000 USD annual base salary, with potential incentive pay and/or equity.

What you will do

• Plan, lead, implement, and debug SSD hardware designs from concept through production.
• Contribute to architecture, schematic and layout design, documentation, validation, sustaining, and the full product lifecycle.
• Drive interoperability testing across server, storage, and SSD systems.
• Diagnose hardware issues with internal teams, external partners, and JDMs.
• Evaluate mechanical, thermal, power, and signal integrity tradeoffs at the system level.
• Lead failure analysis, root-cause investigations, test-plan reviews, and customer escalation support.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hardware design and development experience, including schematics, layout, and component selection.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar field.
• Hands-on experience with SSD hardware design and hardware validation at electrical, signal-integrity, protocol, and functional levels.
• Experience with high-speed oscilloscopes and differential probes.
• Strong scripting experience with Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Ability to work from the Santa Clara, California office in accordance with company policy.
