Engineering Manager (React Native)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid with 3 days per week in the office

Salary: $240,000–$360,000 annual base salary, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Lead a team of 8 engineers building pain logging, health assessments, progress tracking, and outcomes visualization experiences.
• Own the Assessment Service, a shared platform supporting structured surveys and patient-reported outcome measures across multiple clinical programs.
• Set roadmap priorities across internal platform work and partner pod requests.
• Design and ship experiments that improve pain reduction, survey engagement, or PSFS outcomes.
• Define contribution patterns, data models, and documentation for a durable Outcomes data platform.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers while contributing approximately 15% as an individual contributor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years managing teams of 5 or more engineers in a product or platform engineering environment.
• Full-stack or backend-heavy engineering background with knowledge of service architecture, data modeling, and client-side UX tradeoffs.
• Experience owning a shared platform or service used by multiple internal teams.
• Experience running experiments and evaluating outcome metrics.
• Working knowledge of React Native or equivalent mobile development experience.

Nice to have

• Clinical outcomes measurement, PROMs, or regulated health data experience, including HIPAA.
• Experience with survey systems, configurable templates, response validation, and downstream data pipelines.
• Familiarity with server-driven UI and configurable layouts for mobile assessment experiences.
• Experience using Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent AI-native development tools and maintaining CI-enforced harness engineering patterns.
