Senior Engineering Manager (Healthcare)

Location: San Francisco office; hybrid schedule with 3 full business days per week in the office

Salary: $240,000–$360,000 annual base salary, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Lead a software engineering team within Hardware R&D responsible for mobile, backend, BLE, device-control, and hardware-adjacent software.
• Define team priorities, execution rhythms, roadmaps, and technical strategy across connected-device software platforms.
• Orchestrate cross-functional programs with Product, Clinical, Regulatory, Hardware, Data, Member Support, and Quality/Compliance partners.
• Establish release gating, quality practices, operational feedback loops, and technical debt reduction plans for regulated software.
• Own production health in an on-call, continuous delivery environment by improving incident response, observability, reliability, and scalability.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineers and technical leaders while contributing to engineering-wide processes and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years leading and managing engineering teams, including 5+ direct reports through hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience delivering production software for connected devices, BLE-enabled systems, device-control flows, or in partnership with firmware and hardware teams.
• Experience with healthcare, HIPAA, GDPR, FDA-regulated products, or other regulated software environments.
• Experience delivering complex cross-functional programs and leading teams responsible for production health, on-call operations, and continuous delivery.
• Familiarity with mobile, backend, and platform technologies such as React Native, Python, TypeScript, GraphQL, Docker, AWS, Postgres, or Redis.

Nice to have

• Experience building test infrastructure, simulation layers, or developer productivity tooling for complex distributed systems.
• Experience using AI-assisted prototyping or engineering workflows in product development.
