Site Design Engineering Lead Civil Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: Onsite at the Natrium Demonstration Project in Kemmerer, Wyoming, United States

Salary: $134,629–$179,506 per year, with the range specific to Wyoming.

What you will do

• Lead the onsite civil engineering team, including hirify.global employees and subcontracted resources.
• Oversee civil and structural design follow-up and field engineering supporting construction, testing, startup, commissioning, and turnover to operations.
• Review, approve, and issue drawings and design deliverables in accordance with the approved design basis, licensing commitments, and regulatory requirements.
• Act as the primary onsite engineering interface for civil and structural issues with construction, procurement, quality, licensing, regulators, suppliers, and the utility owner/operator.
• Manage priorities and resource allocation across engineering tasks while supporting the construction schedule.
• Mentor engineers and support recruitment, onboarding, training, and compliance with nuclear quality, configuration management, design control, safety, and security processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• At least 7 years of progressive engineering experience, including 2 or more years leading or supervising engineering teams.
• Experience in design, construction support, or field engineering, preferably on large-scale EPC projects.
• Knowledge of nuclear design and licensing basis requirements, configuration management, and quality assurance programs, including 10 CFR 50, 10 CFR 52, and NRC guidance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain site access and any required security clearances for work at a nuclear construction site.
• Ability to meet ANSI/ANS 3.1 qualification requirements and applicable education and nuclear industry experience criteria. Physical requirements include extended sitting, prolonged repetitive work, stairs, and safely lifting up to 25 pounds; travel is 0–10%.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree or Professional Engineer registration.
• Experience resolving complex onsite technical issues with construction, procurement, quality, licensing, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Familiarity with NQA-1, ASME Section III and VIII, B31.1, B31.3, ACI-349, ACI-318, AISC N690, AISC 360, and IEEE 603.
