Senior Quality Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: Torrance, California, United States; onsite work

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Own and resolve quality challenges across R&D and early commercial activities.
• Embed with engineering teams to enable compliant execution while maintaining appropriate rigor.
• Co-architect the Quality Management System and define its roadmap from early-stage controls to a scalable, world-class system.
• Build prevention-focused quality systems spanning design, manufacturing, suppliers, and testing.
• Interface with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders on technical quality matters.
• Mentor colleagues and help establish the future Quality organization.

Requirements

• Prior experience in nuclear quality assurance in R&D, commercial, or related settings.
• Broad quality engineering experience across design, manufacturing, suppliers, and testing.
• Experience building or significantly reshaping quality systems rather than only operating mature systems.
• Ability to work independently in incomplete systems and rapidly changing environments.
• Strong judgment, pattern recognition, and decision-making under pressure.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Nice to have

• Experience working with regulators, auditors, or external stakeholders in nuclear or other safety-critical industries.
• Experience leading or mentoring quality teams during organizational growth.
• Experience applying modern tools, automation, or AI to quality systems and workflows.
• Exposure to advanced reactors, fuel fabrication, or first-of-a-kind nuclear programs.
