R&D Operations Engineer (CNC/CAD-CAM): Leading rapid prototyping and internal manufacturing operations for high-precision R&D components with an accent on CNC programming, mechanical design, fabrication, and shop equipment readiness. Focus on developing manufacturable prototypes, applying GD&T and DFM principles, and solving manufacturing and equipment issues through root cause analysis.

hirify.global’s Engineering department develops groundbreaking projects through rapid prototyping and internal R&D manufacturing.

What you will do

  • Lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of rapid prototyping and R&D manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, program, and optimize complex precision parts using CAD/CAM software and G-code for multi-axis CNC mills and lathes.
  • Design and fabricate mechanical components, fixtures, and tooling using mechanical engineering, DFM, and GD&T principles.
  • Specify, procure, maintain, calibrate, and manage the operational readiness of CNC machines, manual lathes, welders, laser cutters, and metrology equipment.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Engineering teams to transition concepts into manufacturable prototypes and refine materials and fabrication processes.
  • Establish safety and quality standards, maintain shop best practices, and troubleshoot process or equipment issues through root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on professional experience in advanced CNC programming and precision machining.
  • Expertise in applying and interpreting GD&T according to ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting multi-axis CNC and manual machines, TIG/MIG welding equipment, and laser cutting systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and material science, with proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Fusion 360.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and available for on-site work in Austin, TX.

Nice to have

  • Leadership or managerial experience in a machine shop, R&D lab, or similar technical operation.
  • Experience leading projects and personnel in a dynamic R&D environment.
