What you will do

  • Design reactor structures and components from requirements through final design for the Natrium Generation IV Reactor.
  • Coordinate engineering and project requirements to develop equipment and component design solutions.
  • Perform scoping analyses, design calculations, mechanical analyses, and finite element stress assessments.
  • Coordinate and technically manage supplier activities and interface with engineering analysis teams.
  • Present design results, assess technical solutions, and lead design reviews.
  • Provide direction and mentoring to junior engineers and subcontractors while supporting nuclear engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • At least eight years of equipment or component design experience; a relevant M.S. degree may count as two years of experience.
  • Working experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III and experience writing design specifications.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, finite element stress analysis, and commercial mechanical stress analysis tools, especially ANSYS.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, writing, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with CAD and SolidWorks is preferred. Minimum education and experience criteria, including relevant nuclear industry experience where applicable, must be verified.
