Company

hirify.global develops advanced high-temperature gas-cooled nuclear reactors and related nuclear hardware.

What you will do

  • Design and develop in-core shielding elements and reactor vessel internals from concept through detailed design, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning.
  • Define requirements, interfaces, design bases, criteria, and applicable industry codes and standards for nuclear structures, systems, and components.
  • Perform structural, thermal, hydraulic, and other engineering calculations using hand calculations and analytical tools.
  • Create and maintain CAD-generated engineering models and integrate designs across engineering teams, partners, and suppliers.
  • Assess manufacturability, assembly, integration, verification, validation, and qualification of safety-related nuclear hardware.
  • Prepare design basis documents, technical reports, calculations, drawings, V&V plans, and engineering reviews in accordance with quality and configuration-management procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Typically, at least five years of engineering experience, with alternatives for relevant master’s or doctoral study.
  • Proficiency with engineering hand calculations and experience designing mechanical or fluid systems, assemblies, or components.
  • At least one year of hands-on experience delivering hardware or manufacturing processes in a production environment.
  • Experience with CAD and PLM software such as UG/NX, SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar tools.
  • Experience with hardware ownership, including manufacturing and testing oversight.

Nice to have

  • Commercial nuclear, naval nuclear, or advanced reactor industry experience.
  • Experience with reactor internals, in-core structures, shielding components, graphite assemblies, or reactor vessel internal components.
  • Knowledge of gas-cooled or graphite-moderated reactors, high-temperature materials, and nuclear shielding materials.
  • Experience designing for combined thermal, structural, irradiation, and seismic loading.
  • Experience applying ASME Section III, NRC requirements, and nuclear quality assurance standards.

Culture & Benefits

  • Cross-functional collaboration across reactor core, vessel internals, structural, thermal-hydraulic, and systems engineering disciplines.
  • 401(k) plan with employer match.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life and disability insurance and paid time off.
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development support.
