TL;DR
Senior Project Engineer (Aerospace): Leading solid rocket motor design and manufacturing programs from proposal through qualification with an accent on schedule, cost, technical performance, and program baseline control. Focus on developing integrated master schedules, mitigating technical and program risks, and coordinating requirements across customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

Location: Onsite in Penrose or Pueblo, Colorado, United States. Travel up to 25% may be required, including overnight travel.

Salary: $108,000–$138,000 USD base salary per year, excluding benefits and bonus or incentive compensation.

What you will do

  • Lead solid rocket motor design and manufacturing programs from proposal through qualification.
  • Own and report schedule, cost, earned value management, and technical performance.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule and control program baselines across design, development, test, and production.
  • Identify, assess, mitigate, and escalate program risks and technical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, or a closely related engineering or science field plus 7 years of combined technical engineering and project engineering or project management experience, or 11 years of combined experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with solid rocket motor design, development, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of safety, handling, and regulatory requirements for energetic materials.
  • Experience developing and maintaining an Integrated Master Schedule and executing against program baselines.
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance are required.
  • Eligibility under U.S. export regulations, including ITAR and EAR, is required.

Nice to have

  • Background in propulsion, energetics, defense, space, or aerospace programs.
  • Hands-on experience supporting solid rocket motor or munitions development from concept through fielding.
  • Technical expertise in hardware design or manufacturing.
