Principal Project Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Louisville, Colorado, United States. Onsite role requiring U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Salary: $173,748.00–$238,903.50 per year.

What you will do

• Lead large-scale technical projects, Integrated Product Teams, business development projects, proposals, small programs, and medium-to-large IRAD projects.
• Oversee engineering design, development, integration, implementation, and technical execution throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop proposals, contracts, and bases of estimate by defining scope, cost, and schedule.
• Lead trade studies, technical evaluations, program standup, governance, cost and schedule performance, and program control activities.
• Manage high-impact suppliers, including statements of work, contracts, technical scope, issues, cost, and schedule performance.
• Provide project status, metrics, performance baselines, technical guidance, and return-to-green plans to customers, Program Managers, and senior leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, equivalent work experience, or a master’s degree with applicable experience.
• Typically 12+ years of related experience with significant project management and technical leadership responsibilities.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Advanced knowledge of project management, EVMS, CAM, risk and opportunity management, and project execution methodologies.
• Deep expertise in a relevant engineering discipline, with the ability to lead large cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Strong avionics background and experience with spacecraft electrical systems design or analysis.
• Systems engineering and integration experience.
• Experience with MS Project, Primavera, CAD, engineering design tools, or product lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with Agile and Lean methodologies, project budgets, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
