TL;DR
Fluid Systems Engineer (Propulsion/Aerospace): Designing and developing fluid system hardware for launch vehicle propulsion, thermal management, and pneumatic architectures with an accent on valves, tanks, pressure vessels, fluid routing, and subsystem integration. Focus on hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural analysis, component qualification, vehicle integration, and validating hardware through build, test, and flight.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, on-site

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 annually

Company

Building orbital infrastructure using satellites in Low Earth Orbit to generate and distribute energy and transmit high-bandwidth optical data.

What you will do

  • Design valves, regulators, tanks, pressure vessels, accumulators, tubing, manifolds, fittings, flex lines, and quick-disconnects for propulsion, pressurant, and thermal fluid systems.
  • Own fluid subsystem layout, integration, and interfaces across propulsion, thermal, pneumatic, and ground systems.
  • Perform hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal-fluid, and structural analyses, including pressure drop, flow distribution, water hammer, thermal transients, and pressure-vessel calculations.
  • Create detailed component and assembly drawings, specifications, and interface control documents.
  • Support component and system-level proof, burst, flow, leak, and cycle-life testing, as well as vehicle integration and fill/drain operations.
  • Work with manufacturing and technicians to resolve build issues and improve producibility, reliability, and reuse through anomaly investigation and post-flight inspection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or a related engineering field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing fluid system hardware for flight or high-performance applications.
  • Experience with fluid system analysis, pressure vessels, or thermal-fluid modeling.
  • Hands-on experience taking hardware from design through build and test.
  • Proficiency with NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks for detailed part and assembly design.
  • Must satisfy U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft propulsion fluid systems and cryogenic fluid handling.
  • Experience designing or qualifying solenoid, pneumatic, or mechanically actuated valves.
  • Knowledge of material compatibility with LOX, methane, hydrazine, NTO, helium, and nitrogen.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing, advanced fabrication, propulsion hot-fire testing, or vehicle fill/drain operations.
  • Familiarity with AIAA, SAE, MIL-spec, and ASME pressure vessel standards.

Culture & Benefits

  • Equity participation.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.
  • Paid time off, 10 paid holidays, and paid parental leave.
  • Relocation assistance where applicable.
  • Daily office lunch and a stocked kitchen with beverages and snacks.
