Senior Engineer, Thermal Hydraulics (Nuclear)

What you will do

• Perform thermal-hydraulics and fluid-dynamics investigations for the Natrium Reactor Program.
• Analyze and design reactor structures, systems, and components.
• Conduct computational thermal-fluids analysis using 3D CFD tools.
• Perform steady-state and transient hydraulic network analysis.
• Document and present technical results to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on thermal and mechanical reactor design, engineering quality, and process improvements.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering; alternatively, 3 years with a master's degree or a PhD with demonstrated thermal-hydraulic analysis capability.
• At least 3 years of demonstrated experience using commercial CFD software; STAR-CCM+ is preferred.
• Knowledge of CFD best practices, modeling approaches, and meshing parameters for balancing accuracy and computational resources.
• Ability to analyze nuclear reactor cores or system components and solve complex engineering problems with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and task-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
• Experience applying CFD to nuclear systems.
• Experience with low-Prandtl-number fluid heat transfer.
• Experience with CFD verification and validation methodologies.
• Experience with Software Quality Assurance and NQA-1 standards.
