Manager, Mechanical Engineering

Location: Remote in China; regional locations include Suzhou and Wuxi.

What you will do

• Establish, lead, and grow the regional mechanical engineering team supporting China and APAC.
• Drive the design, development, and optimization of steel frame structures and related mechanical systems.
• Lead R&D initiatives, including concept development, prototyping, design validation, and testing.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams on design standards, best practices, and innovation strategies.
• Localize global designs for regional requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
• Manage project timelines, resources, budgets, and cross-functional product development with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8–12+ years of mechanical engineering experience focused on structural or steel frame design.
• Proven experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineering teams.
• Strong background in R&D, product testing, and validation.
• Experience working in a global organization with cross-regional collaboration.
• Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English; familiarity with CAD, FEA, and structural analysis software.

Nice to have

• Experience in renewable energy, construction systems, or industrial equipment.
• Experience with solar tracker systems, module frames, or similar structures.
• Experience scaling teams or establishing new engineering functions.
• Experience working in or managing operations in China.
