TL;DR
Sr. Staff Firmware Engineer - Platform Firmware Resiliency (PFR) (C/C++ and firmware security): Designing and implementing secure platform firmware protections for BIOS, FPGA, BMC, and other critical components with an accent on hardware root of trust, secure boot, attestation, and firmware recovery. Focus on PFR architecture, threat modeling, attack simulation, NIST SP 800-193 compliance, and validating resilient firmware systems.

What you will do

  • Own Platform Firmware Resiliency architecture and implementation across multiple product lines.
  • Design and develop secure firmware protections for BIOS, FPGA, BMC, and other critical platform components.
  • Integrate and validate hardware root-of-trust solutions, including Intel PFR, TPM, and cryptographic accelerators.
  • Implement firmware recovery mechanisms that restore integrity after corruption or compromise.
  • Develop threat models, risk assessments, test strategies, attack simulations, and penetration testing for firmware security.
  • Collaborate with hardware, BIOS, security, and cloud teams, while mentoring engineers in secure firmware development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 20+ years of embedded software development experience with strong C/C++ skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Platform Firmware Resiliency and NIST SP 800-193 requirements.
  • Experience with secure boot, measured boot, cryptographic firmware verification, TPM 2.0, and hardware root of trust.
  • Familiarity with UEFI/BIOS architecture, BMC firmware, FPGA firmware update flows, signed images, and capsule updates.
  • Strong debugging skills using JTAG, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers; knowledge of firmware supply-chain security.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Intel Server Platform Services or similar management engines.
