TL;DR
Sr. RF Firmware Engineer (RF/Microwave): Developing and optimizing bare-metal C/C++ firmware for RF front-end boards in counter-UAV radar systems and RF seekers with an accent on MCU bring-up, RF calibration, and hardware-software co-design. Focus on verifying RF performance with lab equipment, automating calibration with Python, and meeting strict real-time reliability requirements.

Location: 100% on-site at the headquarters in Huntington Beach, California, United States

Salary: $165,000–$230,000 per year plus equity for the senior-level role.

Company

hirify.global is a startup defense technology company developing next-generation autonomous and decentralized defense platforms for the United States and its allies.

What you will do

  • Develop high-performance bare-metal C/C++ firmware for resource-constrained microcontrollers powering RF front-end boards.
  • Bring up custom hardware, clocks, peripherals, and drivers, including I2C, SPI, CAN, GPIO, UART, and Ethernet interfaces.
  • Configure and control RF and microwave components such as DDS, PLL, LNA, PA, filters, and switches.
  • Design lab tests and use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and logic analyzers to verify RF performance.
  • Develop firmware-based RF calibration techniques and Python automation for factory measurement and calibration processes.
  • Own firmware reliability, validation, documentation, issue resolution, and project planning across the full development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing embedded firmware for RF/microwave front-ends in radar, RF seeker, wireless radio, or similar products.
  • Proficiency in bare-metal C/C++ and experience optimizing deterministic, real-time software for memory-constrained environments.
  • Deep knowledge of RF/microwave transmitter and receiver architectures, components, and calibration techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with MCU bring-up, electronics schematics, communication protocols, lab equipment, functional testing, and software validation.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to work 100% on-site in Huntington Beach, California. Access to export-controlled information may require authorization under U.S. export control laws without sponsorship for an export license.

Nice to have

  • Strong theoretical background in radar, electromagnetic wave propagation, wireless communication, RF sensing, and RF calibration.
  • Knowledge of military, aerospace, or safety-critical software standards such as DO-178C, MISRA C, or ASIL.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fast-paced, high-iteration environment focused on national security and autonomous defense systems.
  • Competitive base compensation with performance-based incentives and equity participation.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
  • Funding for continuing education, training, and professional development.
  • Transparent compensation tiers and investment in long-term employee growth.
