Embedded Hardware Engineer (IoT)

Location: San Jose, CA or Pittsburgh, PA

Salary: $160,000–$210,000 per year, with equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design bring-up test hardware and customer evaluation development kits, including PCB designs.
• Manage PCBA vendor relationships and perform board bring-up, first-silicon checkout, and hardware prototype debugging.
• Develop boot ROMs, firmware, system software, and a low-level SDK with standard libraries.
• Validate processors using RTL simulators, FPGA emulators, and pre-silicon workflows.
• Collaborate with Digital Design and Compiler teams to diagnose silicon issues.
• Review customer board designs, recommend solutions, and deploy applications across simulation and silicon implementations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of PCB board design experience.
• 8+ years of embedded systems software development experience.
• 5+ years of experience with C and/or C++.
• Experience debugging new silicon and hardware prototypes in a laboratory environment.
• Deep knowledge of an embedded platform such as MSP430, STM32, Ambiq Apollo, PIC32, or similar.
• Experience with industry-standard embedded development and debugging tools, plus strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Altium Develop.
• Solid understanding of computer architectures.
