Lead QA Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Hire, mentor, and lead a growing QA team while fostering a culture of psychological safety.
• Define and execute the overall QA strategy, aligning quality risks with business impact across robotics, ML, and infrastructure teams.
• Build and maintain scalable automated test frameworks for robot software, cloud inference, and edge devices.
• Own release validation, including automated checklists and benchmarking for AI model performance.
• Conduct hands-on physical hardware testing to validate mechanical repeatability, sensor calibration, and real-world edge cases.
• Implement system monitoring and observability using tools like Datadog and Grafana.

Requirements

• Location: Must be based in Redwood City, CA (On-site role).
• 7+ years of experience in QA, SRE, or Robotics Engineering with hands-on hardware testing.
• 2+ years of experience in a team lead or management role.
• Strong proficiency in Python and Linux administration.
• Deep experience with automated testing frameworks, CI/CD tools (Docker, Kubernetes), and AI/ML model evaluation.
• Track record of adopting AI/LLM tools to accelerate QA workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience with computer vision metrics and camera calibration.
• Background in defining performance metrics for AI systems.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
