Sr Lead, Benefits

Location: Ottawa, ON / Toronto, ON / Canada Remote; hybrid workplace

Salary: CAD 143,200–170,000 per year base salary, excluding stock options, wellness stipends, and other benefits.

What you will do

• Define and own the global benefits philosophy and strategy, including leave and time-off programs.
• Lead benefits program design, implementation, rollout, benchmarking, and gap analysis across Canada and the United States.
• Manage renewals, negotiations, budgets, and relationships with carriers, brokers, retirement providers, leave administrators, and wellness partners.
• Oversee benefits and leave administration, employee communications, self-service resources, and complex employee case escalations.
• Ensure compliance, audits, filings, reporting, and risk management for Canadian and U.S. benefits and leave programs.
• Build scalable operating models, define service standards, and coach the People Operations team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive benefits experience with leadership responsibility for strategy, plan design, and vendor management.
• Deep expertise in benefits design and administration in Canada and the United States, including U.S. benefits and compliance requirements.
• Experience managing leave, disability, and complex employee cases.
• Experience building or transforming benefits programs in a growing organization.
• Strong vendor, broker, stakeholder management, negotiation, project management, influencing, and change management skills.
• Experience leading or mentoring team members and developing benefits communications and employee education strategies.
