Senior Ground Software Engineer II

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based out of hirify.global's global headquarters

Salary: $150,000–$225,000 USD per year for California-based roles

What you will do

• Own major architectural components and evolve web-based ground software platforms for spacecraft operations.
• Translate mission needs into scalable ground system designs with flight software developers, mission operations personnel, and systems engineers.
• Deploy, configure, and optimize the Ground Data System for diverse mission profiles.
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and reliability frameworks to detect and mitigate issues proactively.
• Provide technical direction on mission resilience, system integration, maintainability, and ground software strategy.
• Advise leadership on architectural risks and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or another technical discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant professional software development experience.
• Experience architecting web-based software systems at scale and balancing performance, security, and maintainability trade-offs.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
• Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one is required.

Nice to have

• Active TS clearance.
• Full-stack experience with Python, Golang, Rust, TypeScript, Angular, InfluxDB, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Playwright, FastAPI, microservices, distributed systems, CI/CD, Kubernetes, OAuth, and database optimization.
• Aerospace experience with satellite, spacecraft, constellation, or launch vehicle ground and mission operations.
• Knowledge of CCSDS standards, including Space Packet Protocol, COP-1, and CFD.
