Optical Manufacturing Principal Engineer (Photonics)

What you will do

• Develop and own software and hardware automation for high-volume manufacturing tests of photonic components, optical transceivers, modules, and systems.
• Build, maintain, and execute automated Python test cases and frameworks for Layer 1 and Layer 2 network validation.
• Configure optical test equipment, network switches, and IXIA traffic generators to validate hardware and software integration and performance.
• Develop, assemble, validate, release, and maintain production testers, including test flows, specifications, work instructions, and bills of materials.
• Analyze test yield, cycle time, throughput, scrap, reliability, and quality data while implementing continuous improvement plans.
• Collaborate with design, hardware, manufacturing, quality, software, IT, and database teams on DFM/DFT, qualification testing, defect resolution, and manufacturing data analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 7+ years of hands-on experience in software testing and test automation for optical transceiver products.
• Hands-on experience with optical test instruments such as optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, polarization controllers, and bit-error-rate testers.
• Strong Python and/or C# automation experience, with scripting in tools such as LabVIEW or Visual Basic and database integration using SQL or NoSQL.
• Good understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 networking, optical testing, network switches, and traffic generators such as IXIA.
• Experience with SPC, GR&R, tester correlation, yield analysis, reliability testing, quality management systems, and manufacturing process improvement.
• Good command of English for verbal and written communication, presentations, training, and mentoring; international travel is required.

Nice to have

• Experience testing 400G, 800G, or 1.6T optical transceiver modules, including silicon photonics.
• Experience with Windows Forms or WPF, OOP concepts, and hardware communication protocols including NI-VISA, SCPI, RS-232, and TCP/IP.
• Shell scripting experience and familiarity with GitHub, Bitbucket, or SVN workflows.
