TL;DR
Director, Test Site Operations (Aerospace): Overseeing rocket engine and stage systems test infrastructure and operations at Rocket Lab’s Stennis Space Center facility with an accent on propulsion testing, technical team leadership, and high-cadence test operations. Focus on developing test stands, managing infrastructure projects and suppliers, and scaling the site toward multiple engine tests per day.

What you will do

  • Lead engineers and technicians responsible for rocket engine test operations, test stand construction, engine assembly, and maintenance of test infrastructure.
  • Mentor technical teams and provide hands-on leadership in a high-pressure testing environment.
  • Develop and maintain project and program plans, budgets, and schedules across multiple departments and engineering disciplines.
  • Manage external contractors and suppliers.
  • Improve test site infrastructure to support multiple engine tests per day.
  • Oversee site administration, supply chain, logistics, and team health and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in propulsion engineering and/or propulsion test leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting fast-paced technical projects.
  • For work in the United States, eligibility under ITAR requirements is necessary: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylum status, or eligibility to obtain the required government authorizations.
  • Ability to work in an environment involving prolonged sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or PhD in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with liquid natural gas or liquid methane rocket propellants.
  • Experience testing systems from subcomponents through full flight systems.
  • Software development for data acquisition and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of complex IT systems used in propulsion testing.
