TL;DR
Manager, Test Operations (Aerospace): Leading test operations for flight hardware, propulsion systems, and ground support infrastructure with an accent on safe execution, reliable equipment, and team development. Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. Applicants must be U.S. Persons or eligible to obtain an export license under ITAR/EAR regulations.

Salary: $165,000–$205,000 per year, plus potential stock options and benefits.

What you will do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop test technicians while building a culture of ownership, craftsmanship, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and prioritize technician workloads across development, qualification, and acceptance test campaigns.
  • Oversee the fabrication, assembly, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of test equipment, ground support equipment, and supporting fluid, control, and high-power infrastructure.
  • Ensure safe execution of cryogenic fluid, high-pressure, propulsion, electrical, and other hazardous test operations.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, controls, avionics, facilities, and integration teams to define test objectives, build plans, staffing, and execution.
  • Drive standardized work, tooling, inventory, calibration, maintenance, training, troubleshooting, root-cause investigations, and rapid hardware iteration.

Requirements

  • 7+ years working with flight hardware assemblies or in a test production environment, or a bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
  • 5+ years leading technician or engineering teams in aerospace, propulsion, manufacturing, or complex hardware development.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, fluid systems, pressure systems, control systems, high power, fabrication, or propulsion hardware.
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices for high-pressure, cryogenic, electrical, and hazardous test operations.
  • Experience using engineering drawings, CAD models, manufacturing documentation, and digital work management systems.
  • Must be eligible to work under applicable U.S. export regulations as a U.S. Person or through an export license.

Nice to have

  • Experience leading technician teams supporting liquid rocket propulsion, spacecraft, or high-performance aerospace hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with propulsion testing, ground support equipment, cryogenic systems, pressure testing, or integrated vehicle operations.
  • Experience scaling technical organizations and developing future technical leaders.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
