TL;DR
R&D Technician (Solid Rocket Motors): Supporting hands-on propellant processing, solid rocket motor assembly, and development testing for hypersonic defense programs with an accent on energetic materials handling, equipment operation, instrumentation, and safety. Focus on executing static-fire and environmental test setups, collecting and packaging process data, and troubleshooting manufacturing and test processes.

What you will do

  • Execute propellant manufacturing and solid rocket motor assembly tasks, including material handling, mixing support, casting, curing, and component integration.
  • Support instrumentation installation, hardware preparation, and static-fire, environmental, functional, and other development tests.
  • Operate, monitor, and perform basic maintenance on mixers, casting systems, ovens, test stands, data acquisition systems, and related tooling.
  • Collect, document, organize, and package process and test data; assist with post-test hardware recovery and inspection.
  • Prepare materials, tooling, and hardware; maintain inventory tracking, area readiness, cleanliness, 5S, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and operations leadership on equipment qualification, process trials, procedure validation, troubleshooting, and cross-training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education or military training in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, testing, or operations within aerospace, defense, propulsion, chemical processing, or another high-hazard industrial environment.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and test procedures accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, shop equipment, process equipment, and test systems.
  • Ability to handle hardware weighing up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work safely in industrial and test environments.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as the position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience with solid rocket motors, propellants, munitions, missiles, static-fire testing, environmental testing, or range operations.
  • Experience in energetic materials facilities or with ATF/DoD explosive safety requirements.
  • Background in aerospace or defense R&D or production environments.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, or fast-paced startup environments.
