Assistant Corporate Controller (Automotive)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States

Annual salary: $160,000–$180,000, depending on experience, plus benefits and incentive plans.

What you will do

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with US GAAP.
• Prepare and maintain consolidated financial statements, including consolidation entries, intercompany eliminations, and foreign currency translation adjustments.
• Lead the U.S. general ledger team of approximately 4–6 accounting professionals, including coaching, development, workload distribution, and cross-training.
• Prepare financial reporting packages and support external audits, SEC filings, tax activities, and FP&A collaboration.
• Lead SAP accounting process improvements across order-to-cash, fixed assets, inventory, consolidation, and intercompany operations.
• Drive SOX Section 404 compliance, control improvements, automation, and documented backup processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience at a publicly traded company.
• Experience owning financial close processes and consolidated financial statements.
• Experience managing and developing an accounting team.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, consolidation, intercompany accounting, foreign currency translation, and multinational accounting.
• Strong communication, organizational, process improvement, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• SAP HANA experience across OTC, fixed assets, inventory, consolidation, and intercompany modules.
• Experience at a large national public accounting firm.
• Automotive, electric vehicle, or manufacturing industry experience.
• Experience with PRC or other foreign subsidiary accounting.
• Bilingual English and Chinese Mandarin skills.
