Engineering Manager, WMS (Elixir)

What you will do

• Lead two engineering teams responsible for maintaining and enhancing the WMS platform used in live fulfillment operations.
• Own hiring, 1:1s, performance management, feedback, and career development for engineers.
• Set sprint goals, delivery commitments, team ceremonies, and predictable delivery practices.
• Translate business priorities into technical work, platform enhancements, and coordinated roadmaps.
• Drive reliability practices covering monitoring, failure modes, operational readiness, incident response, and root-cause resolution.
• Partner with product managers and peer WMS engineering managers on priorities, standards, architecture, and planning.

Requirements

• Strong engineering fundamentals with the ability to contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and architecture decisions.
• Direct experience managing engineers, including hiring, performance reviews, feedback, and career development.
• Experience running one or more scrum teams through predictable delivery cycles and communicating progress, risks, and blockers.
• Ability to set direction amid ambiguity, build cross-team alignment, and make pragmatic technical decisions.
• Production mindset focused on reliability, monitoring, failure modes, and operational readiness.
• Understanding of AI coding tools and their adoption while maintaining quality and independent technical judgment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Elixir or another functional, concurrency-oriented language such as Erlang, Scala, or Clojure.
• Direct production experience with Elixir/OTP at scale.
• Experience managing multiple engineering teams in a larger platform organization.
• Background in warehouse management, logistics, or another real-time operational system.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations including picking, packing, inventory, and labor allocation.
