Principal Product Application Engineer (PCIe/CXL)

What you will do

• Provide technical guidance to ODMs and help overcome complex design challenges.
• Support the design-in, development, silicon bring-up, and debug of high-speed semiconductor products.
• Drive technical ownership of issue resolution across internal engineering teams and customer-facing FAE and sales teams.
• Use protocol analyzers, exercisers, high-speed oscilloscopes, and BERTs to investigate product and system issues.
• Create application notes, technical guides, and other documentation for internal and customer-facing audiences.
• Support global customer engagements, on-site reviews, and system bring-up activities with travel as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience designing in complex SoC or silicon products with high-speed interfaces, preferably PCIe.
• Strong knowledge of PCIe LTSSM at the physical-layer level, associated standards, and debugging; PCIe 4.0 experience is required, while PCIe 5.0 or CXL experience is preferred.
• Experience with silicon and system bring-up and debugging in customer systems.
• Technical writing skills for producing clear and precise application notes and guides.
• Ability to engage with global customers and travel for on-site activities.

Nice to have

• Experience triaging issues across silicon, firmware, hardware board design, and system environments.
• Experience with PCIe or Ethernet switch and retimer products.
• PCIe compliance testing and troubleshooting experience.
• Firmware development in C and scripting in Python or equivalent languages.
• Understanding of data center servers, JBODs, networking switches, routers, and interconnects.
