API Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote in the European Union, United Kingdom, or the USA Eastern time zone

Salary: UK £100,000–£140,000 GBP; EU €90,000–€130,000 EUR; USA $145,000–$180,000 USD depending on region and tier.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and evolve high-scale backend systems and APIs for hirify.global’s core platform.
• Architect and operate distributed systems on AWS for high throughput, reliability, and performance.
• Work across backend, infrastructure, and DevOps layers from API design through deployment and operations.
• Design enterprise integrations with external platforms and support large-scale workflows.
• Guide decisions on data models, service boundaries, scaling strategies, and failure handling.
• Improve observability, reliability, and performance while partnering with product and engineering teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and scaling backend systems in production.
• Recent hands-on coding experience in a production environment.
• Deep AWS experience across compute, storage, networking, and scaling.
• Extensive experience with high-scale distributed systems, API design, and system architecture.
• Experience across infrastructure and application layers, including DevOps, deployment, and reliability.
• Experience with enterprise integration platforms such as AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, or similar systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-throughput systems, event-driven architectures, or data pipelines.
• Background in platform or infrastructure engineering.
• Experience in high-growth or scaling product environments.
