TL;DR
Electrical Engineer I/II (Aerospace) (Robotics/Avionics): Develop and test avionics hardware for robotic systems, covering requirements definition, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, verification, and production with an accent on analog electronics, FPGA and microcontroller applications, and motor control. Focus on circuit analysis, board-level design verification, system integration testing, and supporting reliable hardware manufacturing for space programs.

Location: Onsite in Pasadena, California, United States; must be physically able to commute to buildings.

Salary: $82,000–$130,000 USD base pay per year.

What you will do

  • Develop and test avionics hardware for robotics programs from requirements definition through production.
  • Design schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer.
  • Perform circuit, stress, and worst-case analyses using SPICE and Excel.
  • Develop electronic ground support equipment with end-to-end ownership.
  • Execute PCBA design verification and system integration testing.
  • Support production manufacturing and collaborate with engineers across disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or another engineering discipline.
  • Strong background in analog electronics design.
  • Proficiency with SPICE, Excel, and basic electronic laboratory equipment.
  • Experience with FPGA and microcontroller design in a professional or academic environment.
  • At least 2 years of electrical hardware design experience for the Electrical Engineer II level.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements, with eligibility to meet applicable ITAR access requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing for space environments, including radiation impacts and mitigation.
  • Board bring-up and debugging experience.
  • Experience creating design verification test plans and executing tests.
  • Experience with high-reliability aerospace applications, rigid-flex PCBs, and electromechanical design.
