TL;DR
Electrical Infrastructure Engineer (Renewable Energy): Designing and deploying electrical infrastructure for megawatt-scale renewable energy facilities and ocean-based systems with an accent on power strategy, distribution design, commissioning, and long-term reliability. Focus on developing scalable capacity plans, integrating utility and non-traditional power solutions, leading contractors, and ensuring compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA.

Location: On-site in Portland, Oregon, United States; relocation assistance is available if needed.

Salary: $160,000–$210,000 annually, plus equity.

What you will do

  • Develop hybrid strategies for delivering megawatt-scale power through utilities, temporary service, generation, and storage.
  • Design scalable electrical distribution systems, load calculations, single-lines, conceptual layouts, and system standards.
  • Diagnose power quality issues, failures, and system risks while improving reliability, maintainability, and documentation.
  • Lead electrical design reviews, capacity planning, power system studies, construction sequencing, and commissioning.
  • Manage electrical scopes, contractors, submittals, installation quality, and integration of new systems with minimal disruption.
  • Own electrical safety programs, inspections, permitting, incident investigations, and compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or R&D environments.
  • Experience with medium-voltage systems, utility interconnection, large power upgrades, electrical distribution, and load calculations.
  • Ability to develop and interpret electrical drawings and system models.
  • Experience leading contractors and driving execution in hands-on industrial or construction environments.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA electrical safety standards.

Nice to have

  • Experience with non-traditional or hybrid power solutions, on-site generation, microgrids, or phased builds.
  • Direct experience working with utilities and power system modeling tools.
  • PE or EIT certification.
  • Background in high-growth R&D or prototype environments.
