Power Electronics Engineer (Clean Energy)

What you will do

• Design power electronic systems from 10W to 10kW, including DC/DC converters, offline isolated power supplies, and inverters.
• Select topologies, semiconductors, magnetics, schematics, layouts, EMC solutions, and safety approaches.
• Create verification and validation plans for individual components and complete systems.
• Bring up and test prototypes to validate functionality, optimize performance, and evaluate critical characteristics.
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, reliability, and firmware engineering.
• Own power conversion systems from specification and design through prototype validation and manufacturing.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of power electronics design experience.
• Detailed understanding of active and passive component losses in power conversion and loss mitigation methods.
• Experience designing high-efficiency, high-density converters using wide-bandgap devices.
• Knowledge of converter topologies, sensor design, magnetics, insulation strategies, EMC, schematics, and PCB layout.
• Strong laboratory skills with oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, sources, and loads in high-voltage, high-current, and noisy environments.

Nice to have

• M.S. or Ph.D. with a power electronics focus.
• Experience with high voltage, current, and power, plus power converter simulation.
• Knowledge of global safety and EMC certifications and relevant codes.
• Experience in solar, energy storage, EV, or EV charging industries.
• Familiarity with embedded control, microcontrollers, and mechanical and thermal considerations.
