What you will do
- Lead the design and development of spacecraft electrical power systems, including solar arrays, batteries, power distribution units, converters, charge controllers, and protection circuits.
- Own power architecture trades and technical decisions across performance, mass, thermal constraints, radiation tolerance, cost, and schedule.
- Develop power budgets, models, and simulations covering generation, storage, distribution, eclipse cycling, battery state of charge, and transient loads throughout the mission.
- Lead PDR/CDR activities and develop design specifications, interface documents, test plans, operating procedures, and qualification campaigns.
- Develop EGSE and HIL validation environments and support EMI/EMC, thermal-vacuum, vibration, and other environmental testing.
- Collaborate with avionics, systems engineering, software, and propulsion teams while mentoring junior and mid-level power engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 8 years of professional experience designing spacecraft or other high-reliability electrical power systems.
- Strong experience with solar arrays, Li-ion or LiFePO4 batteries, charge control, DC/DC converters, peak power tracking, and power distribution.
- Experience with radiation effects, radiation-tolerant design, power budgeting, system modeling, and simulation across all mission phases.
- Advanced experience with Altium Designer or equivalent ECAD tools and SPICE, MATLAB, or similar analysis tools.
