Applied AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, with hybrid work available in New York City and Toronto. Must have valid travel documents without work authorization restrictions in the US. Comfortable working with colleagues across different time zones, including the UK.

What you will do

• Architect and build enterprise-grade AI and conversational systems for coaching workflows and user experiences.
• Develop, evaluate, and refine LLM-based components for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Integrate structured and unstructured enterprise data to improve contextual understanding and output quality.
• Partner with product, engineering, and design to turn user needs into technical solutions.
• Prototype and iterate across backend services, data pipelines, and frontend interactions.
• Build tooling, tests, automation, observability, and deployment workflows for continuous model improvement.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML, or data-intensive systems.
• Knowledge of language systems, including NLP, conversational interfaces, information retrieval, model behavior, context, and evaluation.
• Experience with NumPy, scikit-learn, Pandas, PySpark, SQL, and data visualization tools.
• Experience developing and deploying cloud services using AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong software engineering skills, including maintainable code, distributed-systems debugging, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with ML lifecycle tools such as MLflow or Weights & Biases.
• Familiarity with cloud ML services or previous generative AI application development.
• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field.
